Concerts for 2015/16 Season

 First   Last

Welcome to the 2015–16 Season of concerts by The Havant Orchestras

Have you recently enjoyed a live concert of classical music?  How about one where you might even know some of the players in the orchestra?

Most of the players in the Havant Orchestras are local to the Havant or Fareham area, and play in the orchestras as a shared hobby.  Some work with music for a living, for example as music teachers, but many enjoy music only as a spare-time activity.  However, both orchestras have a solid reputation for high quality performances with outstanding soloists, often including local performers.  Tickets are available at very reasonable prices, including special low prices for students and children.

This year’s concert programmes and soloists have been selected by our conductors as the new Musical Directors of their respective orchestras.

Havant Symphony Orchestra concerts are at  Oaklands Catholic School, Waterlooville.  The Oaklands School hall has upholstered raked seating, warm resonant acoustics and plenty of space for the players in the larger Symphony orchestra, and we are grateful to the school for making it possible for the orchestra to return to performing regularly in the Havant area.  We have two new soloists this season, international soprano soloist Jane Streeton and brilliant young violinist Joo Yeon Sir, and we welcome back outstanding pianist Viv McLean.  In each concert, one work will normally be directed by a talented student conductor under our Bob Harding Bursary award scheme.

Havant Chamber Orchestra concerts continue at Ferneham Hall, Fareham.  Our first concert features chart-topping guitarist Craig Ogden, frequently heard on Classic FM.  For our next concert, we have the young Albany Piano Trio in the Beethoven Triple concerto, then in May local favourite pianist Karen Kingsley is playing the famous Mozart Piano Concerto heard in the film “Elvira Madigan”.

Separate season tickets are available for the three concerts at each venue, with a further price reduction when season tickets are purchased for both venues.  Single tickets will be on sale after the July concert.
