6.30pm: The pre-concert talk will contrast the overture and symphony. Helios Overture – Nielsen Little Suite No 2 – Malcolm Arnold Cello Concerto in E minor – Elgar Symphony No 2 in C minor, Little Russian – Tchaikovsky Fantasy Nielsen, spritely Arnold, monumental Elgar and the essence of Russian nationalism from Tchaikovsky. The Israeli soloist won a Making Music Award for Young Concert Artists in 2012. |
