30 Oct 2017:  For those who would like to know more about Peter Craddock and the early years of Havant Symphony Orchestra, we have made a History page available on this website containing an informative and often amusing article from the July 1987 souvenir programme Havant Symphony Orchestra – The First Twenty Five Years.  Peter Craddock wrote the first part for the 10th Anniversary of HSO in 1972, then added further updates for the 25th Anniversary in 1987.

Peter Craddock

21 Oct 2017:  We have been very sad to hear that Peter Craddock, founder of the Havant Orchestras, passed away on 14th October 2017 after a long illness.

As the musical director of both Havant Orchestras, he conducted Havant Symphony Orchestra for 50 years and also Havant Chamber Orchestra for most of that time before retiring in December 2012 due to ill health.  He will be sadly missed by all of us who enjoyed making music with him.  We send our deepest sympathy to his wife Sandra and his family.

If anyone needs to know details of the funeral arrangements, please contact the Havant Orchestras administrator, Stella Scott, and we will try to make sure you are kept informed.

In the longer term we hope that there will be a memorial concert of some sort and we will let you know about arrangements for that when we have them.

We have also received many kind comments and reminiscences from those who knew him, which we are passing on to his family, and we also hope to share some of them more widely later.
