Normal rehearsal times and locations
Havant Symphony Orchestra rehearsals are normally held every Friday evening during school term time (except on the day before a Havant Chamber Orchestra concert) from 7.00pm to 9.30pm at The Pallant Centre (St. Faith’s Church Hall), The Pallant, Havant, PO9 1BE (see map). There is a car park next to the hall, off East Pallant, which is a one-way street towards the hall, so you need to approach it via Beechworth Road.
The final rehearsal on the concert day is at the concert venue, and for concerts at Hayling Island Community Centre or Oaklands Catholic School the rehearsal the preceding evening is usually also at the same location. Note that this season two of the HSO concerts are in the afternoon, with morning rehearsals on the day.

St. Faith’s Church Hall is sometimes unavailable for HSO rehearsals or bursary auditions, in which case we usually move across Havant to St. Joseph’s Church Hall, West Street, PO9 1LP (see map).
The HSO rehearsal includes a coffee break at around 8.30pm. Coffee or tea and biscuits are provided (for a contribution of 20p).
Havant Chamber Orchestra rehearsals take place in Havant, normally on the two Tuesdays immediately preceding the concert date, from 7.30pm to 10.00pm. There is a break, but no refreshments are provided.
HCO rehearsals are usually at Bosmere Junior School, South Street, PO9 1DA (see map).
Players please bring a music stand to all rehearsals.

Specific HSO rehearsal details
[29th April 2023]HSO players please note that, as previously advised, the rehearsal on Friday 5th May is for strings only, at the Pallant Centre as usual.
[18th April 2023]
The HSO rehearsal on Friday 21st April has now been cancelled because of key players being unavailable, so rehearsals for the July concert will now start with the full rehearsal on Friday 28th April.
[15th April 2023]
The first HSO rehearsal for the July concert is on Friday 21st April. Some wind players are not available on that day, so the plan is that the second rehearsal, on Friday 28th April, will be a full rehearsal, with full wind and brass, and the third rehearsal, on Friday 5th May, will be strings only.
Jonathan Butcher has requested an additional rehearsal during the half term week, on Friday 2nd June. This will have to start a little later than usual as we cannot enter the hall to set up until 7.00pm.
The Pallant Centre hall is not available on Friday 26th May so the rehearsal will instead be at Hayling Island Community Centre (our September concert venue).
Jonathan Butcher is not available for three of the rehearsal dates. The rehearsals on 26th May and 30th June will be conducted by James Thomas, and another conductor will be arranged for 12th May.
[1st January 2023]
The first HSO rehearsal for the March concert is confirmed as Friday 13th January. Also, the second rehearsal, on Friday 20th January, will be for strings only.
[11th December 2022]
The first HSO rehearsal for the March concert was originally expected to be Friday 6th January but it appears that Havant Dynamo Youth Theatre are using the Pallant Centre on that date, so we are now provisionally expecting to start on Friday 13th January instead. Players will be notified when the date has been confirmed.
[9th July 2022]
The first HSO rehearsal (and AGM) in September, to prepare for the Popular Classics concert with Avi Taler, will be on Friday 9th September. This is mainly because the Hayling concert date had to be delayed until 1st October, two weeks later than our usual date, so there is no need to start immediately on the first Friday of term.
