Normal rehearsal times and locations
Havant Symphony Orchestra rehearsals are normally held every Friday during school term time (except on the day before a Havant Chamber Orchestra concert) from 7.00pm to 9.30pm at St. Faith’s Church Hall, The Pallant, Havant, PO9 1BE (see map). There is a car park next to the hall, off East Pallant, which is a one-way street towards the hall, so you need to approach it via Beechworth Road.
Note that some rehearsals, including the first two in September 2012, are at the alternative location of St. Joseph’s Church Hall, West Street – see below for directions and map. The final afternoon rehearsal on the concert day is at the concert venue, and for concerts at Hayling Island Community Centre or Oaklands Catholic School the rehearsal the preceding evening is usually also at the same location. The HSO rehearsal includes a coffee break at around 8.30pm. Coffee or tea and biscuits are provided (for a contribution of 20p).
Havant Chamber Orchestra rehearsals are normally held at the same location, St. Faith’s Church Hall, on the two Tuesdays immediately preceding the concert date, from 7.30pm to 10.00pm. There is a break, but no refreshments are provided.
Players please bring a music stand to all rehearsals.

Additional information about rehearsals
[Update 3rd July 2013]The bursary auditions originally scheduled for Friday 12th July have been cancelled. The committee is still considering the possibility of holding auditions on a Friday in October, soon after the start of the college term, so as to be able to have a student working with the HSO for the rest of the year.

Tom had hoped that the soloist David Le Page would be available to rehearse the Glazunov on Friday June 28th, but he is unavailable. Tom has modified the schedule for 28th June so it now includes some work on the first movement of the Borodin and on the Berlioz, and this has been updated in the table below.

Specific HCO rehearsal details

The Tuesday rehearsals for the May HCO concert (on 7th and 14th May) will be at
St Joseph's Church Hall,
134, West Street,
Havant, PO9 1LP
(just up the road from the Craddocks’ house – see map).
Directions from the A27 Havant roundabout:
- Continue straight ahead past the Tesco’s turning;
- turn left immediately after the pedestrian crossing, opposite McDonalds;
- after passing two roads on the right St Joseph’s Church is also on the right, and the entrance to the car park is immediately beyond the church.
- The Church Hall is within the car park, behind the church.
Note that you cannot return home the same way, in that there is no right turn at the end of West Street, so you would end up having to turn left and go north for a bit then go right round the next roundabout. If you want to return more directly to the A27 you can go back along West Street and take the first left into Boundary Way then the first right into Park Way (which turns to the right at a roundabout by the car parks) back to the main road, where you can then turn right at the traffic lights.
If you want to return to the A27 to head west, a quieter route is to turn right when coming out of the church car park to continue along West Street and then take the next left at Brockhampton Road, which goes down towards a bridge over the A27. There is a small roundabout before the bridge, then another one after it where you can turn right and then rejoin the A27 at the next junction (where it merges with the A3M) by following the signs for A27 Portsmouth.
