Anna-Liisa Bezrodny – Violin

Anna-Liisa Bezrodny was born in 1981 into a famous family of musicians in Moscow.  She began her violin studies with her parents when she was just two years old and at the age of nine she entered the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, in the class of her parents, Professor Igor Bezrodny and Professor Mari Tampere-Bezrodny, later studying for MMus degrees in both the Sibelius Academy and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Anna-Liisa has won prizes in many competitions and in 2006 she won the coveted Guildhall Gold Medal.

Over the last 10 years Anna-Liisa has collaborated with maestros including Sian Edwards, Nikolay Alekseyev, Jason Lai, Robin O’Neil, Arvo Volmer, Paul Magi and Juha Kangas and she plays extensively with the renowned pianist Ivari Ilja with whom she made her debut CD of sonatas by Elgar, Prokofiev, Sibelius and Rimsky-Korsakov.  Her second CD – of Estonian composer Eino Tamberg’s Violin Concerto – was released in 2010.

As a soloist Anna-Liisa has appeared with many orchestras including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra TV6, Helsinki Philharmonic, Estonian National Orchestra, Estonian Chamber Orchestra, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra (Latvia), Vilnius Philharmonic (Lithuania), Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia and the London Ensemble.

Anna-Liisa has performed on several occasions on Finnish and Estonian National TV and National Radio, Performance Channel, NBC, Classic FM and BBC Radio 3.  She played the Bruch Violin Concerto to a capacity audience at the Royal Festival Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sibelius Violin Concerto at the Barbican last year.  Additionally, since 2007 Anna-Liisa has been teaching in both the Estonian Music Academy and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Recent performances have included Bruch’s 1st Violin Concerto with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall at just 6 days notice, and Sibelius’ Concerto at the Barbican with Sian Edwards.  Anna-Liisa has another date with Sibelius this time with the Corinthian Chamber Orchestra at St James’, Piccadilly in March 2012.
