Thank you to all 14 of you who came to our St. Cecilia-tide Lunch and Talk. The delicious finger buffet was beautifully prepared by Chef Sam. The talk and music seemed to go down well, once I had mastered the audio system in The Panel Room.

As a regular presenter and just one of over 70 volunteers on Angel Radio, Havant, I have prepared over 200 programmes of light music. My recorded slots are on Wednesdays at 7.30 pm. and on Sundays at 10.30 am. for 25 minutes each. The radio broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The frequency is 101.1 FM and on line at http://angelradio.co.uk/ The studio is at 17 Market Parade, Havant PO9 1PY and the station has won The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
In the “What’s On” programme on Angel Radio, Havant Orchestras’ Concerts are regularly mentioned. I have recently completed writing and recording four programmes featuring some of the music of Sir Edward Elgar. The first programme will include Havant Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Elgar’s Wand of Youth Suite No. 2, recorded at Ferneham Hall. It will probably be broadcast next year and I will try to let you know when that will take place.
Thank you to all those who returned the questionnaires. The replies were very positive and included suggestions for future social events, requests to meet players and ideas for sponsorship opportunities.
Some Friends have kindly agreed to check up on local libraries to see if they are displaying our posters and handbills for forthcoming concerts.
Margaret Prout has accepted our invitation to join the Friends’ Sub-Committee and to host another Garden Party next summer at her Fareham home.
With very best wishes,
Geoff. Porter (Secretary to The Friends)

Finally, you will be saddened to hear of the passing of our President, Pauline Buzzing. She had been very ill for some time and died peacefully at her home in Chichester in July. At her funeral in Chichester Cathedral, a string quintet from the orchestras played Dvorak and Rossini. She was a great supporter of The Friends and will be sorely missed.
